HIS Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel and Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah launched Phase 2 of the Jerudong Park Playground last night breathing new life into Brunei’s premier tourist destination with new water rides, futuristic simulators and the Eco-Adventure Kingdom.

His Royal Highness launched the area with an impressive eruption of pyrotechnics, simultaneously lighting up the 50-metre Scary Drop. Their Royal Highnesses were accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Finance in his capacity as the Jerudong Park Country Club Chairman, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Hisham bin Haji Mohd Hanifah.

Also in attendance were Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs; Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance II; permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries.

After the spectacular launching, their Royal Highnesses rode on the Go-Po train over the bridge towards the Telekombat ride.

Their Royal Highnesses then viewed the National Service Programme (PKBN) recruits perform a zipline demonstration. From the observation deck, Their Royal Highnesses could also see the Eco-Adventure Kingdom tower over 220 metres away. Following this, they experienced the X-Rider 4D Simulator and Valkyrie – an interactive shooting 4D Motion Simulator.

The tour of the new area continued with a ride at The Plunge Lagoon – the all new log flume ride that ends with a big splash. Their Royal Highnesses then enjoyed the Ice World Arctic Rapids, a four-seater water ride.

Their Royal Highnesses also visited the Kids Adventure Indoor Playground and then witnessed 35 PKBN recruits in a martial arts performance at the large canopy area. They concluded their enjoyable evening with a thrilling ride on The Pirate Ship. Following the success of its relaunching in 2014, the new area marks an important step in the ongoing revitalisation of Jerudong Park.

Phase 2 at Jerudong Park Playground has eight new exhilarating rides: Scary Drop, Telekombat, 4D Simulator, The Plunge Lagoon, Ice World Arctic Rapids, Eco-Adventure Kingdom, Kids Adventure Indoor Playground and The Pirate Ship. Jerudong Park Playground now boasts over 30 rides and attractions making it one of the largest in Borneo.

Various senior representatives from the government and public sector also attended the launching ceremony as well as over 900 Year 4 and 5 students from the Jerudong Primary School, Jerudong International School and International School Brunei.
