Brunei's $69m Women and Childrens Hospital Opens

A MOCK key presentation ceremony for the B$69 million Women and Children’s Block of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital was held yesterday at the lobby of the new building.
The new block is to meet the increasing needs of medical services for women and children that require systematic and complete medical treatment to provide better and quality health services to society.
The new Women and Children’s Block is equipped with various high-technology facilities to accommodate the needs of women and children in the country.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil was present at the event. The mock key was first presented by Awg Toshiya Sato, Managing Director of Tobishima (Brunei) Sdn Bhd to Dato Paduka Haji Idris bin Haji Abas, Principal Arkitek Idris, who presented it to Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin, Acting Permanent Secretary (Technical and Professional), Ministry of Development and who in turn presented it to the Permanent Secretary.
Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila later presented the mock key to Haji Muhd Jamal bin Haji Tersad, Chief Executive Officer and Dr Ang Swee Hui, Medical Superintendent of RIPAS Hospital.
The construction of the 11-floor new block is under the 9th National Development Plan (RKN) and has specialist facilities and services including the Paediatrics Ward, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ward, Children’s Specialist Ward, General Paediatric Ward, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Special Care Baby Unit, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, Oncology Ward (children), 13 suites (labour room), two operation rooms, Gynaecology Ward (private rooms), Doctor’s Office, Seminar Rooms, Prayer Rooms, Pharmacy, car park for staff and public and a café.
Also present at the event yesterday were Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Health, Senior Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Health, Haji Mahrub bin Haji Murni, senior officials and staff of the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Development.
