New Radio Stars shine at finals

NEFF Asli, Ryana and Haily & Jane emerged as the champions in the Male Solo, Female Solo and Duet categories respectively at the Radio Star Finals 2014, which was held yesterday at the Radio Televisyen Brunei’s (RTB) Dewan Raya.

The guest of honour, Haji Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) at the Prime Minister’s Office, presented the prizes to the winners.

Also present were Deputy Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) at the Prime Minister’s Office, Haji Idris bin Haji Ali; Director of RTB, Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu; and senior officers from RTB.

The champions each won a cash prize of $2,000, a trophy, an Akira TV set, a Royal Brunei Catering voucher worth $400 and a certificate of participation.

The runners-up in each category – Zael, Hanun and Raman & Nur in the Male Solo, Female Solo and Duet categories respectively – each bagged a cash prize of $1,500, a trophy, an Akira TV set, a Royal Brunei Catering voucher worth $300 and a certificate of participation.

Third-place winners – Ziez, Dila and G.Zul & Dyana in the Male Solo, Female Solo and Duet categories respectively – were each awarded a cash prize of $1,000, a trophy, an Akira TV set, a Royal Brunei Catering voucher worth $200 and a certificate of participation.

The competition was held to find and highlight talents in various art fields such as music, singing, composing or acting. RTB regularly holds such competitions.

The event was further enlivened by performances by artistes Haslinda Taib and Affendy Agus.

The competition was introduced in 1960 and has produced many multi-talented artistes not only in singing, but also in composing and performance arts.

The event was aired live on RTB2, RTB3 and Harmoni FM.
