Congrats to all Recipients! Tell me, BRo, if Dato Seri Pahlawan DCP Bahrin is the first to have been bestowed with this highest Datoship in a long while, sir? Because as long as I can remember Dato Seri Paduka was the highest to have been bestowed on even Commissioners of Police and Army Commanders... ;)

Actually no.

There are three orders for chivalry or bravery - Darjah Paduka Seri Laila Jasa Keberanian Gemilang Yang Amat Cemerlang; Darjah Paduka Keberanian Laila Terbilang Yang Amat Gemilang and Darjah Pahlawan Negara Brunei Yang Amat Perkasa. The former is the one awarded to the Commanders of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Commissioner of Police which carries the title Dato Paduka Seri for first class and Dato Laila for second class. The second order also has the same title.

The Darjah Pahlawan has been awarded before. Last year, the Deputy Commander of the RBAF and all the forces commander was awarded the PSPNB. For a long time, it was Pehin Mohammad who had the Dato Seri Pahlawan. I remembered a former commander of the Police Security in the 1970s had the second class which is Dato Hamzah Pahlawan.

The interesting bit is that even though the Darjah Pahlawan is the third ranking among all 3 bravery order, it has the longest shortform PSPNB which makes it more attractive. The other 5 lettered order is the PPSSUB and the DSSUB for Darjah Ugama Islam.
